We are looking for a Division Compliance Officer, for the Financial Services Group, to serve as a compliance auditor, consultant and educator in the area of compliance and ethics.
The Division Compliance Officer will work closely with the Company’s legal and regulatory counsel, Compliance group and senior management team to ensure an effective, best practices global ethics and compliance program. (S)he will continue to develop the program to prevent and detect violations of laws including the insurance code and Company policies (e.g., Code of Conduct) and other misconduct, promote ethical practices, and ensure the faithful implementation of the program throughout each respective region. This person will be expected to be both reactive to developments in the regulatory and governance environment and proactive in areas related to compliance education and training. The Division Compliance Officer will ensure coordination with other Company departments, including the legal department, internal audit, human resources, communications, and information technology, and will report to Company’s Chief Regulatory and Compliance Counsel, for the Financial Services Group.
• Assist the Chief Regulatory and Compliance Counsel with compliance initiatives and activities: • Monitor day-to-day compliance activities. • Develop, initiate, communicate and maintain policies, procedures, and practices for the organization to prevent illegal, unethical or improper behavior. • Perform internal compliance investigations and audits throughout the business unit, compiling detailed reports with recommendations. • Coordinate the compliance activities with other departments to remain abreast of their status and identify trends. • Identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk, develop corrective actions plans and provide general guidance to address future similar issues. • Develop, implement and monitor training materials and perform ongoing compliance training through the organization as needed. • Make recommendations regarding policies, guidelines and training. • Meet regularly with both the Compliance group and Division management to determine priorities and procedures for handling compliance related issues. Job Qualifications • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. • A minimum of five years of compliance experience, preferably in a related industry. • Demonstrated knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations. • Excellent organizational skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Must be flexible and be able to work both independently or in a team environment. • Must have strong business acumen and understand business operationally as well as financially; well rounded. % of Travel Required None NOTICE: Individual is responsible to adhere to First American Corporation’s and department’s compliance and information security policies, practices, and procedures, including the handling of systems and data, in the performance of the role.
